What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a driver at US 1 in Cameron, NC on November 8th, 2021. They say the incident happened as a vehicle operated by 76-year-old Paul Woodell collided with a tractor-trailer parked halfway in a southbound lane of travel. The truck was at a job site unloading lumber at the time. Woodell was taken to an area hospital with injuries he was pronounced dead from. Police say that charges are pending and there were no additional injuries noted.
