What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at US 74 in Lumberton, NC on July 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 4:11 a.m. An SUV operated by 76-year-old Thomas Lynn Tschetter reportedly was stopped in a right eastbound lane when it was struck from the rear by a tractor-trailer operated by Jeffrey Dean Braun. Police say that the tractor-trailer crossed a median and overturned. Tschetter was pronounced dead at the scene. Braun was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
