What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that injured two people at Hwy 24 and Hibbs Rd in Carteret County, NC on July 5th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. Reports allege a Waster Removal truck was turning left at Hibbs Rd before striking a westbound SUV at the Hwy 24 intersection. Reports also say the truck struck to stopped vehicles nearby. The driver and a child passenger in the SUV were hospitalized with serious injuries, reports say, while the other drivers involved were allegedly uninjured. Sources allege 77-year-old truck operator, Jules Peregoy, was charged with Failure to Yield.
