What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at I-80 in North Platte, NE on January 17th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 11:53 p.m. According to sources, a northbound semi-truck was allegedly attempting to make a left turn onto a westbound I-80 on-ramp as a southbound pickup truck approached. Reports say the pickup truck collided with side of the tractor-trailer, the driver suffering the fatal injuries at the scene. Authorities have identified the driver as 51-year-old Jean Pierre Brownell. It was alleged the other driver, who was not publicly identified, was uninjured.
