What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a woman at I-94 near Tower City, ND on January 22nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. A flatbed tow truck operated by 43-year-old Mario Butler was reportedly disabled in a right-hand lane of travel due to mechanical issues. Investigators say the truck had been left abandoned after Butler called for assistance and was picked up. A vehicle operated by 43-year-old Tim Hagerott later collided with the disabled truck and the impact caused fatal injuries to his wife, 43-year-old Kelli Hagerott. Tim and his daughters, ages 14 and 9, were all seriously injured and hospitalized. Police say Butler had a suspended license at the time of the accident.
