What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-75 in Miami County, OH on June 12th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11 a.m. According to investigators, a tandem axle somehow became detached from a tractor-trailer traveling southbound on 75. Police say the axle veered over a median and struck a vehicle before crashing into a northbound van. The driver, 77-year-old David Wright and a passenger, 72-year-old Jon Weidel, were both killed. Two additional passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth passenger was uninjured, according to officials.
