What Happened

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed one person at State Route 44 near Pekin Rd in Newbury Twp, OH on November 22nd, 2021. Officials say they received a call about the crash around 11 a.m. A Ford Econoline van and truck with a flatbed trailer attached are said to have collided head-on under unclear circumstances. The driver of the van and four other passengers suffered fatal injuries. Two other passengers were hospitalized with serious injuries while the driver of the truck was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. According to initial investigation reports, police believe the van crossed a center line to cause the collision. Additional information was not immediately available.
