What Happened

State Police have charged a driver in connection with a crash that killed a person at Hwy 51 in Payne County, OK on April 29th, 2022. Officials ay it happened around 6:31 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Altima was headed northbound on Hwy 18 approaching the intersection with Hwy 51. At the tame time, a Dodge 3500 operated by 19-year-old Andrew Nielsen, was going westbound on Hwy 51. Officials believe the Dodge failed to stop at a posted stop sign, colliding with the Nissan at the intersection. The impact caused the Nissan to veered into a concrete culvert, killing the driver. The victim was identified as Julie Johnson. Officials have charged Nielsen with second-degree manslaughter. Additional details were not available.
