What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed three people at  I-35 in Kay County, OK on April 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:23 p.m. According to investigators, a Volkswagen Tiguan headed southbound on 35 lost control in rainy weather conditions and hydroplaned. The vehicle was disabled after re-entering a travel lane before it was struck by an approaching tractor-trailer. The three occupants of the Volkswagen were pinned for several hours before emergency crews were able to free them. Identified as 20-year-old Nicholas K. Nair, 19-year-old Gavin A. Short and 22-year-old Drake H. Brooks, the three suffered fatal injuries from the crash. Additional information was not available.
