What Happened

State Police identified two people killed in a collision on Hwy 95 in Malheur County, OR on August 13th, 2021. They say it happened around 11:45 a.m. A semi-truck operated by 22-year-old Eric Murwanashyaka was headed southbound when it crossed into a northbound lane for unknown reasons. It then collided with a van occupied by 18-year-old Emma Nutter and her mother, 50-year-old Rebecca Haselmann. Both daughter and mother died at the scene. Murwanashyaka was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
