What Happened

Rhode Island State Police are investigating a collision that killed a man at Route 146 in Providence, RI on September 3rd, 2021. Police say the incident involved a box truck operated by 27-year-old Andre Gilbert colliding with the rear of an SUV stopped in traffic. A passenger in the SUV, 78-year-old Frances Furnell, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The SUV driver was hospitalized with serious injuries. Gilbert was charged with Driving to Endanger Resulting in Death and one count of Driving to Endanger Resulting in Serious Bodily Injuries.
