What Happened

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-85 in Spartanburg County, SC on November 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer was headed northbound before veering from the road into a concrete wall. An axle from the truck detached in the crash and went into the southbound lanes, striking an approaching Toyota sedan operated by an unnamed 49-year-old male. The driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Additional details were not made available.
