What Happened

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured five people at  I-95 in Colleton County, SC on August 8th, 2022. Police are saying it happened around 6:11 p.m. and involved a passenger vehicle headed southbound veering from the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck a cable barrier before becoming disabled after returning to the road. This led to a chain reaction crash involved five other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. A 10-year-old child in one of the vehicles was impaled and hospitalized with serious injured. Four others were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
