What Happened

Nashville Police have information on a crash that killed two people at Charlotte Pike in Nashville, TN on August 11th, 2024. Officials say it happened around 11 p.m. According to reports, a dump truck operated by 23-year-old Nicholas Sterling is alleged to have proceeded through a flashing red light before striking the side of an eastbound Ford Focus. Police say the driver of the Ford, identified as 38-year-old Kendall Cartwright, died at the scene. 46-year-old passenger, Eduardo Benitez-Alamillo, was hospitalized with injuries he died form the following day. Officials say Sterling had minor injuries and was arrested on charges that could include Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication. Additional information was not available.
