What Happened

State Police identified the officer killed in a collision on Hwy 75 in Loudon County, TN on February 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around as Loudon County Sheriff's Office deputy Chris Jenkins was setting up a rolling road block to remove a fallen ladder in the roadway. Investigators say the officer was exiting his vehicle when he was stuck by an approaching semi-truck. Jenkins suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Police say the truck driver was questioned by officers and agreed to a blood test. It was later determined that the driver, 43-year-old Christopher Savannah, was allegedly under the influence of marijuana and faces Vehicular Homidice by Intoxication, Vehicular Homicide by Recklessness, Reckless Endangerment and other charges.
