What Happened

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials released details for a crash that killed two people at I-40 in Smith County, TN on April 28th, 2022. They  say a commercial truck occupied by 68-year-old Gene Lundgren was stopped in traffic in a construction zone when a second truck collided with the rear of the truck. The occupants of the truck that struck Lundgren's vehicle, 30-year-old Omar Sosa De La Cruz and 37-year-old Erisbel Cruz Cid, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Lundgren was reportedly not seriously injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
