What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed a driver at Cougar Ln in McLennan County, TX in August 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:25 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 21-year-old China Spring man was headed eastbound on Cougar Ln before the vehicle veered from the road. While attempting to correct back onto the road, the truck went into a spin and overturned, causing fatal injuries to a passenger. The passenger was identified as 23-year-old Abelardo Gutierrez.  Officers allege the driver was under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest on an Intoxication Manslaughter charge.
