What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 19 in Rains County, TX on February 9th, 2024. Officials are saying it happened around 5:15 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet 3500 was southbound while a Chevrolet Silverado was northbound. The 3500 is alleged to have been traveling at an unsafe speed in rainy weather conditions before hydroplaning across a center line into the northbound lane. From there, reports say the vehicle collided with the Silverado, causing the Silverado to veered into a barrow ditch and a telephone pole. The driver of the Silverado, identified as 69-year-old Alan Brad Joiner, was fatally injured while the other driver, a 33-year-old Columbus man who was not publicly identified, had minor injuries. Reports indicate charges are pending and additional information was not available.
