What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-45 near Alma, TX on March 24th, 2022. They say the incident happened around 12:26 p.m. According to their investigation, a GMC box truck headed southbound on I-45 reportedly veered from its lane into northbound lanes and collided with the rear of a Ford F-350. The impact caused the box truck to overturn and tractor-trailer struck the box truck directly after. The box truck driver, 37-year-old Alan Caro and his 35-year-old passenger, Anselmo Garza, both died at the scene. The semi-truck driver, identified as 49-year-old Alexander Ortega, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The Ford driver, 48-year-old Nicholas Nunez, died at the scene.
