What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 57 in Zavala County, TX on September 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:10 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 44-year-old Von Ormy man was headed westbound on US 57 when the vehicle suffered a tire blow out. This caused the truck to veer into oncoming traffic where it collided with a Nissan Titan operated by 62-year-old Alejandro Sandoval. Both Sandoval and his passenger, 63-year-old Adriana Sandoval, suffered serious injuries when the truck was pushed from the road into a ditch. The Von Ormay man was not injured.
