What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a teen at State Hwy 349 in Midland, TX on April 5th, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a GMC Terrain traveled northbound on Hwy 349. The vehicle was preparing to make a left turn onto County Rd 121 before colliding with a Chevrolet Impala headed southbound. The Impala was allegedly fleeing the scene of a previous crash while traveling at a high rate of speed at the time. The impact seriously injured the driver of the GMC, identified as 19-year-old Alexis Aguinaga-Rodriguez. Both Aguinaga-Rodriguez and the other driver were taken to an area hospital where Aguinaga-Rodriguez later died. Officials say charges are pending for the driver of the Impala and had no additional information to share.
