What Happened

Authorities have information on a two-vehicle crash at Gateway North in El Paso, TX on December 22nd, 2023. Police say it happened around 5:41 p.m. According to officials, a GMC Yukon was traveling northbound on Gateway North while a Hyundai Elantra headed eastbound on Edge of Texas. Police allege the Hyundai missed a posted stop sign at the intersection before proceeding into the intersection and colliding with the GMC. The crash left the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 20-year-old Aliyah Chaya Walker, seriously injured. Walter was hospitalized and passed away from her injuries on January 9th. The driver of the GMC, identified as 27-year-old James Willard Burchett and a 27-year-old passenger, Bianica Burchett, both had undisclosed injuries. Three child passengers in the vehicle were also injured, police say. Additional information was not available.
