What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information related to a crash that killed two people at I-10 in Culberson County, TX on September 2nd, 2021. Police say it happened around 7:50 a.m. A Honda Accord operated by 26-year-old Alize Williams was traveling westbound in a right lane behind a tractor-trailer. Police say the Accord attempted to pass the tractor-trailer and the truck veered slightly into the lane of the Accord, causing the two to collide. The Accord was said to have had either defective or slick tires that led to the car losing control from the impact and crashing. Two children in the car, ages 1 and 5, died. A 22-year-old front seat passenger as well as a 3-year-old girl were seriously injured. A 4-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy were evaluated for possible injuries while an 8-year-old girl and Williams suffered minor injuries. The truck involved did not stop to remain at the scene for police.
