What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured several people at Nichols Ave in Bay City, TX on May 21st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:06 p.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Compass operated by a 35-year-old  male who was not publicly identified was northbound before entering into a southbound after allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle ahead. Upon doing so, the vehicle collided with a southbound Toyota Camry operated by 36-year-old Amanda Chavez. Police say Chavez and one of her passengers, age 13, had injured believed to be serious in nature. Two additional passengers, ages 14 and 15, had less serious injuries. The Jeep driver also had non-life-threatening injuries and authorities recommended and/or issued two counts of Intoxication Assault against the driver.
