What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at Hwy 287 near Claude, TX on January 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:05 p.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck was headed eastbound on US 287 behind a tractor-trailer that was slowing down to make a right hand turn. The first truck collided with second truck as it slowed, landing on top of the trailer of the other truck. One driver involved, identified as 58-year-old Amil Suljic, suffered fatal injuries. The other driver, identified as 32-year-old Jose Sanchez, was not injured.
