What Happened

Authorities in University Park, TX, are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on November 22, 2024, at approximately 6:32 p.m. at the intersection of Lovers Lane and Preston Road. A Chevrolet Silverado, allegedly driven by a 32-year-old male, disregarded a stop-and-go signal and was speeding when it collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling northbound. The 44-year-old driver of the Sentra, identified as Ana Gonzalez de Jaimes sustained fatal injuries at the scene. A 15-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The Silverado driver fled the scene but was later charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault, and failure to stop and render aid. The investigation is ongoing.
