What Happened

Officials are investigating a collision that injured several people at I-69E in Brownsville, TX on October 5th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:42 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota 4Runner was allegedly traveling southbound in northbound lanes of travel before colliding head-on with an approaching Ford Ranger. Sources say the impact caused the Toyota to veer into the path of a Chevrolet Trax in an adjacent lane, those two vehicles also colliding. Police say the drivers of the Ford and Chevrolet, identified as 28-year-old Abraham Saenz and 20-year-old Amberly Gonzalez, had non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Toyota, identified as 23-year-old Ana Mena, also allegedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota was allegedly seriously injured and allegedly charged with Driving While Intoxicated, according to authorities. Additional inforamtion was not available.
