What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 84 in Lamb County, TX on May 1st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:53 a.m. According to investigators, an Acura TL operated by 21-year-old Angelita Abeyta was headed westbound on US 84 when it veered into a center median. While attempting to correct back onto the road, the vehicle went into a skid and veered into a barrow ditch. The vehicle is said to have traveled up a hill and went airborne before overturning onto railroad tracks. Abeyta, who officers allege was under the influence of alcohol while driving, suffered serious injuries. Reports indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended and/or issued.
