What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-10 in El Paso, TX on July 4th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3:19 a.m. A Ford Explorer operated by 45-year-old Ariel Lopez was headed eastbound on a westbound ramp under construction. The vehicle then crashed into a concrete barrier, causing Lopez serious injuries. Responding officers indicated that Lopez, who was hospitalized, was allegedly traveling while intoxicated.
