What Happened

Dallas Police are investigating a crash that killed four people at I-20 in Dallas, TX on January 1st, 2025. Officials are saying the incident happened around 1:44 a.m. According to investigators, a vehicle, allegedly operated by Basilio Mares Ortiz, is accused to striking individuals working to repair a tire in an outside shoulder. Reports further allege Ortiz was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Authorities say 47-year-old Arturo Martinez Gonzalez, 19-year-old Anthony Hernandez, 19-year-old Mario De La Paz, 19, and a 15-year-old male were all killed. Officials say Ortiz was arrested on four counts of Intoxication Manslaughter. Additional information was not available.
