What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Memorial Blvd and 39th St in Port Arthur, TX on May 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:51 p.m. According to investigators, a GMC Topkick, two Chevrolet Silverado's and a Nissan Sentra were headed southbound when the Topkick reportedly failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of one of the Silverado's. The Silverado was pushed into an outside lane before the second Silverado collided with the rear of a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Nissan, 37-year-old Arturo Ortiz, suffered minor injuries. The other drivers were not injured. The driver of the Topkick was charged with Failure to Control Speed.
