What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured multiple people at TX 349 in Martin County, TX on September 18th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:19 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 47-year-old Odessa, TX man was pulling out of a private driveway to make a left turn onto TX 349 when it failed to yield. It pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Equinox operated by 30-year-old Ashley Mae Leaks which performed a faulty evasive maneuver in response and the vehicles collided. Leaks and four passengers, ages 26, 10, 11 and 5, all suffered minor injuries. The Crosby man was not injured and was charged with Failure to Yield Right of Way from Private Drive.
