What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a driver at US 180 in Jones County, TX on June 24th, 2021. They say it happened around 3:49 p.m. A commercial construction truck hauling calibration weights was headed east when it began to veer from the road. After hitting rumble strips, the vehicle attempted to correct back to the road. This action led to the truck going into a skid and veering onto the opposite side of the road where it overturned into a barrow ditch. The driver, 61-year-old Aubrey Tipton, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
