What Happened

Montgomery County Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at TX 105 in Montgomery County, TX on January 17th, 2022. Investigators say the incident happened around 9 p.m. According to their initial report, a pair of motorcycles headed westbound on TX 105 when they were spotted by a sheriff's office deputy. The report did not indicate why the pursuit began, however, the deupty began to pursue the vehicles. One of the bikes was able to evade the officer while the second, operated by 20-year-old Austin Ryan L'Heureux, continued eastbound on FM 2854 at a speed that police allege was over 100 mph. Shortly after, it reportedly collided with a Jeep turning left into a parking lot. L'Heureux was transported to an area hospital and died from his injuries. Officers say both cyclist had previously been at a bar, however it is believed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.  Additional information was not available.
