What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at TX 6 in Waller County, TX on August 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:14 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Altima operated by 44-year-old Ayanna Akilah Buchanan Smith was headed northbound in a southbound inside lane on TX 6 when it allegedly disregarded red road reflectors and a 'Do Not Enter' sign at the entrance to TX 6 south. A southbound Ford F-250 was struck by the Nissan, causing the 29-year-old driver minor injuries. Smith was more seriously injured and charged with Driving Wrong Way on One Way Roadway and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Police also suspected that alcohol played a factor in the crash.
