What Happened

Police are investigating a crash that killed one person at US 83 in Uvalde County, TX on September 17th, 2024. Police say the incident happened round 7:59 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Journey headed southbound is alleged to have attempted to pass a southbound vehicle in a two-way left turn. In the process, the vehicle is said to have performed a faulty evasive action in an attempt to avoid colliding with an oncoming vehicle. Officials say the vehicle collided with a Dodge Caravan in a shoulder. Reports syndicate an 80-year-old occupant of the Caravan, identified as Berta Ramirez, was fatally injured. An 18-year-old passenger in the Journey was seriously injured. The driver was allegedly uninjured. Additional information was not available.
