What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that killed a driver at Hunt Hill Rd in Bell County, TX on May 1st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. According to their investigation, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 37-year-old Bill Wells Southerland was headed northbound when it lost control traveling over humps in the road. It then went into a skid and veered from the road through a fence. The vehicle traveled through a north field before overturned and ejecting Southerland from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash while his 35-year-old female passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. Officers allege suspicion that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
