What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a person at US 59 in Houston, TX on August 5th, 2021. Police say it happened around 1:59 a.m. A southbound Ford F-150 operated by 51-year-old Cathy Gilley reportedly failed to control its speed and collided with a southbound Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by 75-year-old Billie Joe McGhee. The impact was severe enough that McGhee suffered fatal injuries. His passengers were uninjured. Both Gilley and her 24-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Gilley was also charged with Felony Murder.
