What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 87 in Wilson County, TX on September 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5:29 a.m. A Mitsubishi Lancer operated by 42-year-old Billy Martinez was heading northwest on US 87 when it come up to a stop sign at the intersection to Hwy 97. Police allege that the Lancer failed to yield and drove into the path of a commercial truck operated by 51-year-old Rumaldo Lagunas Aguirre. Aguirre suffered minor injuries when the vehicles collided. Martinez was more seriously injured and cited for Failure to Yield Right-of-Way.
