What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured everyone involved at US 84 in Lubbock, TX on January 21st, 2023. Police say it happened around 8:14 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Escape operated by a 33-year-old woman who was not identified, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 84. Police allege the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and may have contributed to the vehicle veering from its lane and into the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 50-year-old Billy Ray Taylor. The collision caused the Ford to veer from the road and overturn. The Chevrolet caused fire after its motor was forced from the vehicle. Both Tayler and his passenger, 58-year-old Jennifer Taylor, had injuries considered to be non-life-threatening. The other driver and her 41-year-old passenger, who was not identified, also had non-life-threatening injuries. Officers recommended and/or issued an Intoxication Assault charge.
