What Happened

Lubbock Police are investigating a collision that killed two people at I-27 in North Lubbock, TX on October 19th, 2024. Officials say the incident happened around 8:37 p.m. According to investigators, a a vehicle was headed southbound with three occupants. At some point, two of its occupants were allegedly involved in altercation that saw the vehicle come to a stop. Police say 40-year-old Cruz Moreno and 20-year-old Briana Arredondo exited the vehicle and shortly after, were struck by a southbound vehicle. Following the collision, police say 38-year-old Bobby Moreno exited the vehicle and was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to tend to Moreno and Arredondo, who were fatally injured. Reports say Arredondo was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not available.
