Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at I-10 in Orange, TX on March 2nd, 2024. Authorities say the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. According to investigators, an eastbound Mazda collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado. Directly following the collision, reports say the Silverado was struck once more by a GMC, the impact causing the vehicle to become engulfed in flames. A passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as 45-year-old Brandy Leon, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Officials are saying the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 48-year-old Bryant Leon, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The Mazda operator was identified as 28-year-old Matthew Phoenix. According to reports, Phoenix was arrested on Driving While Intoxicated and Manslaughter charges. Additional information was not available.
