What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at State Hwy 80 in Nixon, TX on March 11th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:56 a.m. Investigators say a Ford E250 operated by a 50-year-old Brian Wetzel was headed southbound on State Hwy 80 when it veered from the road. It then overcorrected and veered into a grass shoulder, striking an embankment and overturning into a stop sign. Wetzel suffered serious injuries in the collision and reports indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was issued.
