Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed one person involved at Military Rd in Weslaco, TX on April 1st, 2025. Officials say the incident happened around 7:07 a.m. According to reports, a tractor-tailer was headed westbound on Military Rd as a Mazda 3 headed southbound at FM 491. Police claim the Mazda failed to yield right of the way at the interaction before proceeding into the path of the truck, the two vehicles colliding as a result. The driver of the Mazda, identified as 25-year-old Brianna Marie Chavez, was fatally injured. Police did not have additional information available.
