What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at Loop 12 in Dallas, TX on July 29th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:16 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 operated by a 22-year-old driver who was not publicly identified as southbound on Loop 12 at the time. It has been stated the vehicle was rounding a curve in the roadway and lost control, veering to the left of the road and into a grass median. From there, the vehicle is said to have traveled into a concrete drainage ditch where to overturned several Tims, ejecting a passenger from the vehicle. The passenger, identified as 27-year-old Carlos Alberto Cortez Callente, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver had injuries suspected of being non-life-threatening. It was suggested by authorities the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
