What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least one person involved at US 67 in Alvarado, TX on February 1st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 5:32 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Forte was eastbound on US Hwy 67 before allegedly failing to yield right of way before making a turn onto County Rd 607. Following the turn, reports say the vehicle collided with a BMW 550, debris from the collision impacting a nearby vehicle. Reports say the driver of the Kia, identified as 31-year-old Carlos Mendez Martinez, was seriously injured. The driver of the BMW, who authorities allege may have been under the influence of alcohol, was also seriously injured. The driver of the other involved vehicle was allegedly uninjured.
