What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at FM 1023 in Uvalde County, TX on January 9th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:22 a.m. A Dodge Ram 2500 operated by 21-year-old Cauy Russell Routh was headed northbound on FM 1023 at a speed that investigators say was unsafe when it veered past warning signs at an intersection. It then traveled through a group of trees across railroad tracks and went airborne into a private property. The landed through a fence and overturned and Routh suffered fatal injuries. A 22-year-old passenger also suffered serious injuries.
