What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-10 in Houston, TX, on January 18th, 2025. Police say the incident occurred around 10:39 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram was allegedly parked in a westbound lane of travel without active lighting as a Kia Optima approached from behind. Officials say the Kia collided with the parked Dodge, leaving its operator, Charmayne Lashawn Bridges, fatally injured. A passenger in the same vehicle, identified as Paige Shonteal Elaine Chapman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the driver of the parked Dodge, identified as 42-year-old James Anthony Adkins, allegedly displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested on Intoxication Manslaughter charges.
