What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a child at I-10 in Pecos County, TX on November 21st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:39 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer was eastbound on I-10. At the same time, a Nissan Sentra was also eastbound ahead of the truck. Reports say the Nissan was possibly suffering from mechanical issued and allegedly had active hazard lighting prior to being struck in the rear by the approaching truck. The collision is said to have caused the Nissan to veer from the road into a bar ditch where it overturned. A 10-year-old child in the vehicle was seriously injured and hospitalized, according to reports. The others involved were either uninjured or did not report any injuries. Sources indicate a Failure to Control Speed charge was recommended and/or issued.
