Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a child at I-30 in Hopkins County, TX on September 17th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:45 a.m. A Toyota passenger car, operated by 34-year-old Angeles Vicente-Hernandez, was headed eastbound on the service road when it collided with the rear of a garbage truck for unknown reasons. The truck was stationary with caution lights active as it collected garbage. An 11-year-old child in the Toyota suffered fatal injuries at the scene while a second child was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Vicente-Hernandez was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not available.
